OurAmericanHistory.com and NuestraHistoriaAmericana.com are award winning web sites about the contribution of the Spanish and Hispanic Americans to the 18th century American Revolutionary War. The sites include information on the key events and people in North and South America and Spain, resources for scholars and teachers, an interactive timeline, and a children’s section with an interactive map.
The Hispanic Almanac is launching in 2013. The Almanac is a mobile application with daily key events on Hispanic-American history and culture in North and South America, including the many contributions of Hispanic-Americans to our history. A sample month of the app is available at the Almanac site, and it will soon be on sale on the Google Marketplace.
These web sites were created by Barbara A. Mitchell, a Hispanic-American / Latina with a mission to promote understanding and enjoyment of the Hispanic culture and contribution to our history. As the contentious immigration debate continues and as mainstream Americans struggle to accept and embrace a changing population, Barbara believes that fostering a dialogue of respect, knowledge, and a shared heritage will make a profound difference.
Barbara is the author of several articles on the role of the Spanish and Hispanic Americans in the American Revolution for the Weider History Group, the world’s largest publisher of history magazines.
